Our Mission

The Caring Hearts Foundation was formed to provide the Red Feather area residents and tourist/guests with excellent and essential community functions that will raise funds to reinvest in the Red Feather area community.

The community functions include but are not limited to, various fun runs, 5k races, festivals, silent auctions, and other family-friendly events. The funds raised from these events will be used to enhance the health and welfare of the Red Feather Lakes community. The current goal is to raise funds for maintaining public restrooms that are slated to be built in the village using grant money that will only be approved if the maintenance funds are raised. At present, there are no public restrooms accessible apart from the community library during its operational hours. The foundation's ultimate goal is to construct a Recreation Center in Red Feather Lakes, including a healthcare clinic, due to the existing absence in the area.

Red Feather Lakes is a small unincorporated mountain community whose population continues to grow at a rapid rate. According to Data USA, RFL population jumped from 385 in 2019 to 591 in 2020, a 53.5% increase. It can be difficult to determine what the exact population is with so many seasonal homes and unclear RFL borders. When the surrounding communities are also taken into consideration, the population grows even more significantly. Although the majority of the residents of Red Feather Lakes prefers to keep the integrity of a small town, the seasonal tourism of the area greatly impacts the ability for the business owners to keep their doors open therefore providing events that draw people up to the area is essential.

Red Feather Lakes has been in existence for 100 years as of 2023 and is well known throughout Colorado as a small fishing community. What the next 100 years looks like is up to us. The Caring Hearts of Red Feather Lakes Foundation is being formulated to help our little community be proud of the area we live in and provide quality events that appeal to all and help support our businesses that keep it alive.
